Living Sustainably in Community
Imagine living in a neighborhood that's welcoming, safe and eco-friendly.
Private homes with generous common facilites.
Where people know and care about each other in a real village setting.

Newt Crossing Community is a forming, intergenerational cohousing community.

We highly recommend reading: Cohousing Communities; Designing for High-Functioning Neighborhoods by Durrett, Yang, Lin, Nash, and Kongkhajornkidsuk

Project Status
  • We have the land (map). 17 acres of wooded land about 5 miles from downtown Port Townsend, WA.
  • The property currently has two houses and a large straw-bale garage building that will be converted into the Common House.
  • We plan to build six more houses (depending on County permits) which will give us a community of eight households.
  • Preliminary budgeting indicates we should be able to keep home costs to average new home prices in this area.
  • We have formed a developmet LLC, and completed our site design.
  • Please see our about page for more information about us
  • If you would like to know more about us, please don't hesitate to contact us at newt@olympus.net. We're happy to answer questions via email/phone/Zoom
